The Revolving Fund for
Humanity
Habitat houses are built at no profit and interest is
not
charged on the loans. Building costs are financed by a revolving fund
of pay-it-forward mortgages and donations from YOU.
The fund,
consisting of donations from individuals, corporations,
churches and organizations dedicated to housing issues are
used to purchase materials and pay for licensed labor. Families
pay back the full cost of construction materials needed to
build their home through a no-profit, no-interest mortgage. Mortgage
payments are recycled into the building fund, which is used for the
construction of more homes.
Revolving Fund Mission
What the
poor need is not charity but capital, not caseworkers but co-workers.
Money for the fund will come from shared gifts by those who feel they
have more than they need and from non-interest bearing loans from those
who cannot afford to make a gift but who do want to provide working
capital. The fund does not give away money. It is not a
handout.
Did you know?
Your gift does much more than help
families escape from unsafe, unhealthy living conditions. You are
helping families to break the cycle of
poverty and build long-term financial security.
Habitat's affordable, no-profit house payments free
up money for food, child care, medicine and other necessities. And
research has shown that decent housing improves health, increases children's
educational achievement and strengthens community ties. |
