About Habitat for
Humanity International
Habitat for Humanity was founded
by Millard and Linda Fuller in 1976 in Americus, Ga. They saw the need
for assisting communities and helping families through the elimination
of poverty housing and development of community investment. The concept of "Partnership Housing" was created, in which those in need of adequate housing work side-by-side with volunteers who build their home. Habitat has evolved into the ultimate Pay It Forward organization where partner families spend their "sweat equity" not only building on their home but also building on the homes of other Habitat partner families, thereby paying forward the action of partnership and service to their fellow community members. Today Habitat for Humanity International operates in over 90 countries around the world- working to provide decent, affordable housing and aiding in post-disaster and emergency shelter relief efforts. HFHI operations are split between the main office in Americus, Ga. and administrative offices in Atlanta, Ga. |

About Our Local Habitat
Affiliate
Central Nebraska Habitat For Humanity was
formally founded in 2005 as an independant Nebraska
non-profit corporation working for Habitat for Humanity International.
Dorothy Davis, the
founder of CNHFH and first Executive Director to the organization,
began
to develop the organization out of the Cozad, Ne. affiliate beginning
in 2001. First, striking out on their own as "Dawson County Habitat" it
eventually evolved into the Central Nebraska Habitat For Humanity where
the affiliate went on to serve
all Central Nebraska families in rural commnities. With start-up
support from Habitat in Georgia, CNHFH began as a pilot program to
explore the reach and potential of rural housing and community
development.Tragically, at the close of 2009 the amazing and dedicated Director, Dorothy Davis, lost her battle with cancer. Her memomry and efforts will continue to be honored by the work of CNHFH, as we embark on the next chapter of this noble adventure. The CNHFH family asks that members of the service area communities honor Dorothy's legacy by continuing to support Habitat's mission, volunteer and contribute, and to help your fellow man when you can. |
